August Communication7 Aug 08

As of 10:00AM on August7th, 4913 observations have been submitted. You may notice that the sightings seem to have tapered off in the past month. However, don't be discouraged! The birds are still out there; they just aren't coming to the feeders as frequently. Remember that they often switch to insects while nesting. Keep your eyes peeled for the new batch of greens that should be showing up at your feeders.

PBOT Intermediate Workshop
Saturday, August 23rd, 9:00am-10:30am
Temptations Restaurant
Sponsored by Wild Bird and Garden in Hanover Center
Coffee compliments and a raffle for a bird feeder and white millet seed.
3501 Oleander Dr., Wilmington, NC, 910-343-6001

All are invited to our very first Intermediate PBOT workshop. Even if you think you are just a beginner, please feel free to attend. Dr. Jamie Rotenberg from UNCW will review some Painted Bunting basics, and then move on to greater detail in how to make backyard observations, how your data will contribute to the project and some results! We will follow individual birds as they are re-sighted at your neighbor's homes! Please join Dr. Rotenberg at this very informative workshop.

Website Updates:
We have added a photograph with band colors to the FAQ section. Check it out here. Also, in response to requests from many PBOTs, Brett has changed the website so that you may continue to view your data after it has been accepted by me. Note: Some of you asked me to make alterations to your data. I will not be able to do so until the database has been downloaded from the website into Access this winter. Thus, you won't see any changes yet! Don't worry, though, I still have all the info you gave to me.
